Many children suffer from animal allergies
such as dogs, cats, horses, rats & mice and even
birds. There is NO CLINICAL EVIDENCE of any allergy-free
animal breed.

Plant allergies are also common in many people, including
children.

Egg and other food related allergies (milk, wheat, etc.) are
very common in children. Avoidance is an important part
of dealing with these allergies and many children will grow out
of these allergies. We can assist you by identifying
which foods your child may be allergic to and help to manage
these health issues.

Seasonal allergies, though harder for parents to identify,
can be determined on your FIRST visit to Allergy &
Asthma Consultants.

Stinging insect allergies (venom) can be very serious.
Skin testing is the common method to determine a venom
allergy BUT we do not recommend testing and most insurance
carriers will not cover any type of testing
unless the patient has already had a
serious reaction to a sting.
If your child has had a serious reaction to a sting, make
sure you have your Epi Jr. medication available AT ALL
TIMES. We can test for multiple types of stinging
insect allergies, if a previous reaction has occurred.
This will help to identify specifically which stinging
insects you need to be aware of.

Mold can also play a serious health hazard in your home.

Seafood allergies are more rare in children but can be
serious just the same in any person.

Immunotherapy (Allergy shots) are an effective way to help
the body's own immune system learn to deal with allergy related
symptoms. Allergy shots require a dedication to the
therapy for it to be effective. A commitment of five
years or more may be required and many of our patients that
follow our protocols are eventually able to discontinue
immunotherapy and use fewer medications to manage their allergy
symptoms.
If you are considering allergy shots for yourself or your
children, feel free to discuss it in detail with one of our
friendly physicians or your primary care doctor.
